Launching Lexmosaic lawyers network
Lexmosaic
Now. After too many evenings spent muttering about why excellent independent law firms still refer matters to each other on instinct rather than knowledge, we have done something about it.
We are proud to announce the launch of LexMosaic, a network of independent European law firms built on a deliberately unusual premise: that good lawyers, given the right tools and a fair way to decide things together, do not need to be governed from above.
No head office. No president. No council meeting in a city you have never been to, voting on things you were not asked about.
Three convictions hold the network together:
Cross-border work runs on trust, and trust is built on proximity. When you send a matter abroad, you should be sending it to someone you actually know, not a name from a directory. No fees, no strings, no kickbacks: just reputation.
The practice is being remade in real time, and the firms that thrive will be the ones shaping the change rather than absorbing it like a server room quietly filling up with Agent Smiths. Bring a half-formed idea, find the people who can help make it real.
A single independent firm rarely moves European legislation. A network of them, speaking carefully and together, can. Joint positions, properly mandated, put on the record. Nobody speaks in the networkโs name without the networkโs agreement.
And then the part I am most proud of: how we decide. We took our cue from liquid democracy and then went one step further, because in an age of instant communication and AI there is no longer any practical reason to hand your judgement to a body that meets without you.
So here, you do not. Power is exercised directly, through votes. And a vote is not a blunt yes-or-no boss fight where one side has to lose. It can be strong support, or support with reservations, or maybe, or why not, or probably not. The result is a faithful picture of where the network truly stands, in all its shades, the way a mosaic is many small distinct pieces that together form something whole.
Each firmโs voice is weighted by participation. Not by size, seniority or fees. Influence is earned in the open, and always capped, so that no single voice can dominate the whole. A natural 20 still counts. It just does not win the campaign on its own.
If you run an independent firm somewhere in Europe and any of this resonates, get in touch. This is an experiment as much as a network: a small proof that professionals can organise themselves without a hierarchy, and decide together without surrendering their judgement to anyone.
Roll for initiatives, welcome to LexMosaic.
